The systematic position of Sophora inhambanensis (Fabaceae: Sophoreae)
The phylogenetic position of Sophora inhambensis (one of only three species of Sophora that occur in Africa — the others are the widespread S. tomentosa and S. velutina) is inferred from an analysis of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences for the core genistoid legumes. This species was thought to be closely related to the Podalyrieae based on chemical data (alkaloids and seed flavonoids...
متن کاملQuinolizidine alkaloids from Genista ephedroides.
Alkaloids retamine, anagyrine, lupanine, 17-oxoretamine, 12-alpha-hydroxylupanine were detected, along with four others unidentified compounds in the aerial parts of Genista ephedroides D.C.
متن کاملThe value of chemosystematics in clarifying relationships in the genistoid tribes of papilionoid legumes
Taxonomic patterns in the distribution of alkaloids, phenolic compounds and cyanogenic glycosides in the genistoid group, which includes the tribes Brongniartieae, Genisteae, Thermopsideae, Crotalarieae, Podalyrieae, Euchresteae and part of the Sophoreae, are reviewed. Discontinuities in the distribution of secondary metabolites agree well with recent modifications to generic and tribal delimit...
متن کاملIndolizidine and quinolizidine alkaloids.
This review covers the isolation, structure determination, synthesis, chemical transformations and biological activity of indolizidine and quinolizidine alkaloids from microbial, plant and animal sources. Included in the review are the hydroxylated indolizidines lentiginosine, swainsonine, castanospermine and their analogues; alkaloids from animal sources, including ants, amphibians and beetles...
متن کاملErythrinan alkaloids from seeds of Erythrina velutina.
Four new Erythrinan alkaloids (1-4) were isolated from the seeds of Erythrina velutina. The structures of these new compounds 1-4 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including 2D-NMR. Three of four were found to be novel sulfated Erythrinan alkaloids.
